Rosacea & Redness
Broken capillaries. Flushed cheeks. Rosacea flare ups. Rosacea can be a tricky condition to treat and manage, but with the correct treatment we can control flare ups. Rosacea often starts out looking like ‘flushed’ skin but the condition can process to be inflamed, sensitive and even pustules can begin to show. Although there is no confirmed cause, we do know the triggers and contributing factors:
Blood Vessels Overgrowth
Can contribute to your skin looking red and inflamed and make your skin more sensitive to changes in climate and U.V. levels.
Solution: Internal supplementation and topical use of Vitamin C and antioxidants, will help to strengthen your skin and calm any redness.

Essential Fatty Acid Deficiency
A lack of essential fatty acids can impair the immunity of your skin and weaken its barrier function, reducing the skins ability to fight infection.
Solution: Promote an anti inflammatory diet (oily fish, avocado, nuts and seeds) and the supplementation of Omega-3 Skin Omegas.
Vitamin Deficiency
In particular, a lack of Vitamin A and Vitamin C, can increase blood vessel sensitivity to U.V. and thus more prone to flare ups.
Solution: Topical application of Vitamin A moisturiser to the face and A C + E Body Oil and Derm A Lac Lotion to the body, combined with internal supplementation of Vitamin A and Vitamin C to top up your vitamin levels.
Genetics
Unfortunately you could have mum and dad to blame for this one … 40% of individuals that suffer from Rosacea also have a relative that suffers from the condition.
Mites
Scientific name .. Microscopic Dermodex Mites.
These little guys inhabit in and around your follicles, creating inflammation that can contribute to Rosacea.
Solution: When the skin is inflamed we can use an Environ Cool Peel Treatment, to sterilise the skin and help to remove mites and bacteria from follicles.
Triggers
There are many ‘triggers’ which can cause a Rosacea outbreak:
- Stress
- Alcohol
- Harsh Scrubs + Exfoliation
- Food Allergens
- Spicy Foods
- Eniromental Allergens
- Medical Conditions
Attempt to cut down on the above where possible and keep a food diary so you’re better able to pin point which particular foods are the culprit.
